STEP 1

Download and print the template provided. Cut out your template pieces - each flower needs two petal pieces and one circle. Supervision is recommended when using scissors.

STEP 2

Trace around the outside of both petal templates onto yellow felt using a marker. Trace the circle template onto orange felt.

STEP 3

Cut out your felt pieces. Hold the circle template on top of your felt circle. Cut a fringe into your felt circle, following the dotted lines on the template.

Note: Repurpose your paper template pieces by decorating and gluing them together to create a 3D paper flower!

STEP 4

Layer the felt petal pieces so the bottom petals can be seen through the gaps of the top petals. Place your orange felt circle on top of your petals in the centre. Place a round button on top, in the middle of your flower.

STEP 5

Use your needle and a small length of embroidery thread to secure your button. Adult supervision is recommended when using sewing needles. Stitch from the back of your flower through the felt pieces and up through a buttonhole. Thread the needle back down through the opposite buttonhole and the felt pieces until you reach the bottom again. Repeat this stitch three times to secure your flower pieces. Tie off your thread at the back of the flower and trim any excess. Gently move the orange felt fringe to stick up above the button.

STEP 6

Peel the backing paper from a self-adhesive brooch back and attach it to the back of your flower. Your Daffodil Brooch is now ready to wear!
