This activity encourages cognitive stimulation, hand-eye coordination, concentration and sequencing skills while providing a fun and rewarding musical experience. Ideal for individual or small group sessions, it promotes engagement, confidence, social interaction and the enjoyment of creating music together.
STEP 1
Download and print our simple song cards template. You can search online for more songs or even make up your own tunes!
STEP 2
Set the desk bells out in front of the participant as well as a plain sheet of cardboard, a pen and the poster paint sticks.
STEP 3
Choose the song you would like to play and write the name along the top of the plain cardboard sheet. Match the notes(letters) on the song card template to the bell colours, using the poster paint sticks to draw each note as a corresponding colour circle on the cardboard. The number of circles for each row should match the number of notes on each line of the song.
STEP 4
Once you have colour-coded your chosen song, it’s time to play! Follow the colours to play the song on the desk bells.
Another way to play is to colour code the songs beforehand without writing the song name at the top. Participants can then play using the colour-coded sheet and try to guess the song as they play!
