Peg Match Game
Create a fun and engaging matching game for residents where they can match shapes and/or colours by clipping the correct peg into place. This activity encourages fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and visual recognition in an enjoyable, hands-on way. An easy game to adjust for differing abilities.
STEP 1
Decorate the wooden clock face using paint markers or paint. We have used paint markers. You can use our design as a guide or come up with your own. Leave the outer rim blank to make recognising the shapes and colours in the game easier. Allow to dry.
STEP 2
Place different coloured sticker shapes evenly around the outer edge of the wooden clock face. As you place each sticker, set an exact matching sticker aside as well. Continue until you have placed stickers around the edge of the clock face and have a matching pile set aside.
STEP 3
Take the matching stickers along with the same number of wooden pegs. Take one sticker and attach it to the closed end of a peg as shown. As the whole sticker will not be on the peg, either glue the sticker to the peg or rip the backing paper to avoid having any uncovered stickiness. Continue in this way until each sticker has been attached to a peg.
STEP 4
Your Peg Match Game is now ready to play! Lay out the corresponding pegs and each player matches the peg to the corresponding spot on the board using either the shape or colour (or both!). Have a friendly competition by seeing who can match all the shapes the fastest.
