Spring Matching Puzzle

Celebrate the arrival of Spring with this simple and engaging Spring Matching Puzzle! This gentle activity encourages visual recognition, problem-solving and fine motor skills, while bringing the colours and familiar sights of Spring indoors for those who may be less mobile or unable to enjoy the garden.

STEP 1

Download and print the provided templates. We recommend printing onto cardboard to create sturdier cards.

STEP 2

Cut out each puzzle around the solid black outline, then along the line through the centre of each image. Supervision is recommended when using scissors.

STEP 3

Laminate the puzzle pieces then carefully cut them out again.

STEP 4

Time to play! Lay the pieces out on the table in front of the participant with the images facing up, making sure to mix the pieces around so the matching halves aren’t near each other. Have the participant assess the pieces and match the halves together to form each whole picture. To extend on the activity, you can use the pictures for reminiscence and conversation starters. For participants with more advanced abilities, you may wish to turn this into a group activity with an element of competition and have pairs race to see who can complete the images the quickest!
