World Cup Decorations
Get ready for the excitement of the World Cup! This activity encourages creativity and self-expression while supporting fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and cognitive engagement. The World Cup theme can spark reminiscence and conversation about favourite teams, past tournaments and cultural connections to help promote social interaction and community spirit. Working together to decorate shared spaces also fosters a sense of purpose, achievement and belonging, creating a positive atmosphere for residents, visitors and staff to enjoy.
STEP 1
Print the provided templates onto white cover paper. Print as many copies as needed and have them on hand ready for use You can use these as a guide when decorating or cut them out and glue them directly onto your designs. Supervision is recommended when using scissors.
STEP 2
Decorate the cardboard flag and shirt shapes using coloured markers, pencils or paint. Allow to dry if needed.
STEP 3
To create bunting, add a hole in the top of each cardboard shape using a hole punch and thread them onto a long length of twine.
STEP 4
To create a poster, use a sheet of white cover paper and arrange the cardboard shapes however you would like, adding extra decoration around them as needed. Glue the cardboard shapes down when you are happy with the design and allow to dry.
STEP 5
To create a window or other area display, gather everyone’s designs together and use blue tac or tape to attach them to the window or wall. You could ask the group for their input on how they want the display to look.
