NAIDOC Week 2025 Bunting

NAIDOC Week 2025 Bunting

Celebrate NAIDOC Week this year with our beautiful bunting set, designed by Kerri-Ann Taggart, an Indigenous digital artist from the Wonnarua area.

NAIDOC Week is a celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Celebrated in the first week of July (Sunday to Sunday) NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. (NAIDOC, 2025)

Kerri-Ann explains the inspiration for her artwork:

“The art featured throughout my 2025 NAIDOC collection are my representation of this year's theme: The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy. The motif of three connected concentric circles not only representing the generational stages throughout life (past, present and future generations), but the three pillars that ensure we have culture for these future generations. Strength for us to be proud of who we are, vision to have a future where our culture is strong and legacy, never forget the ones who taught us what we know now.”

When planning activities that draw on Indigenous culture, Wisdom Activities™ encourages you to connect with Aboriginal Communities in your local area. A great first step is to contact your local Aboriginal Land Council. Working together with the appropriate cultural owners helps ensure any creative or art-making experiences are undertaken with respect and care.

STEP 1

Kerri-Ann has designed the templates with varying levels of detail to be inclusive for all ages and abilities. Download and print as many copies of the templates as needed. Your bunting length will be dependent on how many templates you print. We recommend printing onto cover paper, as this provides a sturdier surface for decorating and creating your bunting!

STEP 2

Choose markers, pencils or paint to decorate your bunting pieces. Allow to dry if needed.

STEP 3

Use the solid black outline as a guide to cut out each bunting template. Supervision is recommended when using scissors.

STEP 4

Mountain fold along the dotted line at the top of each bunting template. Place a long length of twine underneath the folded paper and glue the tab to the back of the template to secure it to the twine. Repeat this process to attach multiple bunting pieces along the length of twine.

STEP 5

Your NAIDOC Week 2025 Bunting is now ready to display!
